  • About me: When I sold everything and left the U.S.A. I wanted to change myself. A life in a new country, climate and culture. Starting eating local food in season, throw off the 2 car garage pool lifestyle that was slowly killing me. After looking at all the E.U. countries, Portugal seemed to be the best fit, so far it is just the right size. Diagnosed bipolar a year before I left the States was a revelation I always knew I was different. Anywhere I am is a challenge. Here in Portugal I have been at my best and my worst. I don’t have my close friendships of many years, but having access to good medical care at low cost is a revelation after the high costs of healthcare, mental health care in particular that was not helping me much in the States. The fresh local food that is easily available at low cost means I eat fresh fish, fruit and vegetables daily.
