• About me: I'm Kari Martindale, an American originally from PA, now finding myself in Germany with my husband, Paul; my daughter, Sequoia; and my dog, Flash. I've traveled a bit in my lifetime, but this is the first time I've spent any length of time in a country where I have been unable to communicate right off the bat. I arrived in Germany on 31 August 2012 with about 5 words of German under my belt. Although one of them--bratwurst--proved valuable, having a lot of blanks and nothing to fill them with has been a daunting challenge. I love snapping photos, jotting down thoughts both random and in-depth, and sharing my experiences with anyone interested. I have been compiling tips and info about everything from Christmas Markets to Castles to road trips.
