  • About me: I was born in flat and damp NW England, and have no idea why it took me so long to leave. I dreamed of living abroad all my life, but didn't get to do it until I was 40. Still, I do my best to make up for lost time these days! I've lived in the Canary Islands since 1987. I brought up my kids here, I've worked here, and I've divorced here. There is a huge British expat community here, but it wasn't until I became more involved in local life that I really "lived" abroad, and began to absorb the traditions and culture of the island on which I live. That said, I love to travel whenever I have the chance. Besides my blog, other passions are photography, food and wine, my dog, reading (both fiction and non), and the Blues and the African music from which they came. I volunteer with La Cruz Roja Española. I care passionately about this planet, its variety and beauty and what man is doing to it. I teach ESL sporadically but enthusiastically.
