• About me: Much as I love Germany, a significant part of me will be forever English. Nutella and coffee in the morning will never replace a nice cup of tea with milk and Sunday morning bacon sandwich. My local adopted Bundesliga team are the mighty FSV Mainz 05. Well, they do play in red and white after all, so it was kind of destiny. I am both highly organised and hopelessly unpunctual at the same time (which thoroughly confuses the Germans!). I can simultaneously think in English and German, but always in kilometres and the 24-hour clock. When I suggest going for “a beer”, what I actually mean is at least three. And after 10 years in one of Europe’s premier wine regions, I can confirm that German wine fantastic. My hobbies include skiing, running, hiking and cycling and am also a self-confessed politics nerd.
