Surviving in Japan: (without much Japanese)

Finding the resources you need in Japan can be daunting at times, especially if you haven't mastered the language quite yet. Seemingly simple tasks such as using the ATM, getting a package redelivered, or askng for a haircut can seem nearly impossible. This blog publicizes and explains many of these tasks, and lists resources vital for surviving and thriving in this unique country.

  • About me: A 20-something writer, blogger, techie living in Japan. Teaching English, writing and freelancing, learning Japanese and experiencing the culture first-hand. Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest (Seattle, Washington), I took a giant leap across the ocean after finishing up my undergrad work. Taught with JET program for a year and a half, and now only teaching part-time to focus more on writing (and this blog, of course!) Married the love of my life May, 2009, and enjoying the newlywed life in Japan, together. Enjoy cooking and gardening, sunshine and warmth, outdoor activities and cats. (Although, I've yet to acquire a cat here...) I'm always on the lookout for new and helpful resources here, especially as a foreigner, and hope to connect others in the foreign (and Japanese) community and offer something useful with this site.
