  • About me: I was born in Panama and grew up in Venezuela, where I was what some might consider an overachiever: valedictorian, editor of the magazine and the yearbook, model UN member, national honor society, captain of the soccer team. Somehow I still had a busy social life. I studied college at UPenn, where I double-majored in History and Economics (minor in French). I then moved to NYC and did marketing at Time Inc. In NYC I had the good fortune of meeting Carlos. We soon discovered that we were made for each other and tied the knot in March 2007. A few years into my stint at Time Inc, I was offered a position at BRAC USA, a start-up supporting one of the largest development organizations in the world. As happy as I am to be a member of the motherhood club, this new social status has not come without its challenges. As it turns out, my ticket into the club is only valid for general admission; I?ve quickly discovered that there are intricate layers and levels of mommy-hood, and I am nowhere near...

There?s a reason why it takes nine months to have a baby, and it isn?t just because this is the amount of time that the female body needs to develop a human being. The way I see it, these nine months are a gift that mother nature bestows upon future parents, a precious yet rapidly narrowing windo...

  •  Welcome to the Monkey House
If there?s one thing that I?ve learned recently, it?s that most of the things that people assume that they know about pregnancy don?t actually turn out to be true. In my case, it?s been six months and I have yet to eat a single pickle. To Carlos? great dismay, there?s been no need for 2am ice crea...

Thanks to my tropical roots and ten consecutive years surviving cold winters, the summertime is and has always been my favorite time of year. Forget autumn foliage, white Christmases, and cherry blossoms. Blistering sun, sweltering heat, frizzy-hair-inducing humidity -- hands-down this is the time o...
