Retirement is the perfect time to fulfil youthful dreams of living in Europe. This blog is about growing older in unusual circumstances, freely chosen, away from family and the comforts of a familiar culture. It is about continuing to grow intellectually, socially, and culturally with some insights which I hope are interesting and helpful. The audience we target are other retirees planning for a similar adventure. I hope to provide an outline for how to go about preparing for this kin of life. These are my experiences as I wander the world for the second time in my life a little past the prime of life but not ready for the compost pile, yet.

• About me: I am a 68 year old retired woman who is living in Krakow Poland with my husband. Two years ago, we left our home in Bar Harbor, Maine to take up a different life in retirement. I've always dreamed of having time to write and blogging seems like the perfect outlet. My husband is a photographer so we combine our passions in the blog. I was born in the UK to Polish parents, immigrated to the US in 1952 and now have dual citizenship: USA and Polish. During my life, juggling those two identities was a puzzle and a challenge. I try to explore my own genealogy to find acceptance and closure to the riddles of my heritage. I have found cousins and family here in Poland. But mostly Greg and I take short trips all over Europe and explore this beautiful city that we now live in: Kraków, Poland. When we return to Maine someday, we hope to combine our efforts into a book.
