Five years ago I crammed my life into a backpack affectionately called 'the Beast' and hit the road, anxious to see all the world's Olympic sites. Needless to say, I got a bit distracted along the way and I've hardly been home since. Today I'm a tour guide in Europe, and live the expat life in Dordrecht, the Netherlands. I blog about what I love; travel, sport and food.
Interest: Travel, learning languages and watching sport
About me: I'm Caitlyn, a 27-year old Australian living in Dordrecht in the Netherlands. I moved here in February 2011 to live with my Dutch boyfriend, giving up my 'sensible' job and perfect apartment. I now work as a tour guide all around Europe, travelling for a living! I also have a slight obsession with live sport, trying to see as much of it as I can when over here in Europe.
Pretty little Plovdiv
I have a few weird little travel habits. They include, but are not limited to, the following: Photographing all of my food before consumption; Looking for old, run-down stadiums; and Talking to myself. I want to expand on that last point. The sophistication of Sofia
I was sitting on a train, I think it was somewhere in Scandinavia, when it happened. I laughed so hard that I snorted. Like, really loudly, and I was in one of those old-school six-person compartments I’d previously found to be quite twee and gezellig. Everyone turned at me, and by God it was... A Dutch routine
I’ve finally done it. I’ve bought myself a proper winter coat. It’s dark navy and woolen, with a hood, brown inside quilting and Paddington Bear-esque wooden toggles. It goes all the way down to my knees and, when paired with my brown knee-high boots, I am actually both warm and r... Tue, 26 Nov 2013 09:36:27
Finding the niche of Ni?
I remember learning about Constantine the Great at school. That in itself is pretty big deal as I didn’t learn anything about the Romans in history class. For some reason, like the Greeks, they were never covered, and instead I learned about good old Connie in Year 11 religion class. I used t... Sun, 24 Nov 2013 19:00:09
