expatsincebirth

I'm "expat-since-birth" because ex-patria (“out of the home country”) since birth. In my blog I share my experiences about being expat, raising multilingual children in a multicultural context, multilingualism in general, everything related to twins, parenting and the different cultures I’ve learned to embrace during my life. I write about three posts per week, sometimes more, sometimes less, depending on my work, family etc. All comments and feedbacks are very welcome in English, French, Italian, German, Dutch and Spanish!

As a German citizen, I grew up in Italy, studied and worked in Switzerland, went to Italy (Florence) for work and came to the Netherlands in 2005 with my husband and son. My twin-daughters were born in Delft in 2006. – I worked as researcher, teaching assistant and lecturer at the Department of Romance Philologiy at the University of Zurich and I am now freelance translator, language teacher and writer.
