Garlands in Paris

THIS IS A BLOG ABOUT PLAY.

And Paris. And museums. And parties.

It is hard, if not impossible, for me to be involved in the planning of a party without including a garland. I have made garlands out of coffee filters, letters, streamers, photos, American flags, balloons, even toilet paper... to the point to where I have a garland-reputation in certain circles. I firmly believe a well-chosen garland adds fun, festivity, and–if you're really lucky–ridiculousness.

Garlands in Paris aims to be a garland in it's own right. It will reflect on issues such as party planning, life in Paris, play in museums, and creative uses of paper. This blog celebrates the little things in life that, like art and friendship, have "no survival value; rather [they are some] of those things which give value to survival" (C.S. Lewis).

US American US American expat living in Paris

  • Gender: Female
  • Move: Usa  France
  • Interest: Arts, Museums, Paris, Party Planning...
  • About me: I'm Marina, a twenty-something American who now lives and works in Paris. I like museums and Mexican food and Michigan. I moved here in 2011, and in that time have (almost) finished a Masters and recently landed a pretty neat job working for the Education Department of a museum. My favorite part about my studies and my job has been working on encouraging people to use their imaginations in museums. I think imagination/play/creativity/si-lliness/confusion/fun/curiosit-y are some of the most important skills to develop in order to live a worthwhile life.
