As an American in Australia, I write about a variety a things–– from quirky cultural differences and anecdotes, to culinary creations and reflections on my daily life down under. It's a mix of writing and photography, all of which chronicle my life and musings from the other side of the world.
About me: I'm an American transplant living in Australia. Born in Berkeley, California, I moved around the San Francisco Bay Area, Nashville, and Oregon before heading overseas at 18. I've been back and forth ever since, most recently spending a couple (wonderfully surprising) years in Houston, Texas where I embarked on a career in journalism and met some truly amazing people.
Newly engaged and back in Oz (with my Aussie fiance), I'm plunging into the next chapter. I'm an amateur cook, photography neophyte, and former public radio reporter turned freelance writer.

Snapshots: Playing Catch Up Well hello there, strangers. After neglecting my poor blog the last two weeks I figured I'd return with a photo-heavy post featuring snapshots taken since I last wrote. Spoon or No Spoon? How to Eat Pasta When it comes to pasta, most of us still struggle to eat it with dignity. No matter how hard we try to twirl our pappardelle with ease and grace, it's inevitable that from time to time strands will dangle from our mouth to either be slurped up or spilled out. I don't see myself ever winning this bat... Tue, 31 Jan 2012 21:32:00
